What Our Graduates Say
We surveyed some of our recent graduates, and here's what they had to say about St. Scholastica Academy and how prepared they were for college.
"I am grateful to SSA for contributing to my personal growth as well as providing me with quality education. SSA introduced me to social services, and I became more aware of the world around me. It also forever instilled in me the firm belief that women are equal to men even when I faced blatant sexism. Some of my college classes, in history and English especially, appear to be easier than the IB classes I took at SSA. The things I learned at SSA prepared me more than enough for college." A member of the Class of 2009
"Make us better prepared for college? Compared with my SSA experience, college life seems to be a piece of cake." A member of the Class of 2010
"I am very grateful that I attended SSA. I firmly believe that it changed my life in many ways. I love the fact that SSA was able to help me financially to achieve my goals and help me graduate from a school with such high standards. One of SSA’s most important aspects is the care that faculty and staff provide for each individual student. As a student I never felt like just a number; I always felt like a person that mattered. I was able to go around SSA and ask for help in any department and never feel rejected." A member of the Class of 2000
"I felt that it prepared me well to think critically and to analyze information. I also think that it gave me a confidence to stand up for myself, for what I believe in, and for what I think is right." A member of the Class of 2004
"I was fantastically prepared for an academically rigorous university as a student, a member of a community and as a human being." A member of the Class of 2000
"I am very grateful for the opportunities Scholastica provided for me and the encouragement I received not only from the faculty and staff, but from my fellow classmates, to pursue all of my interests. When I got to college I became involved in many different extra-curricular activities because of the fulfilling experience I had getting involved at Scholastica. I learned how to become a leader which is what I have continued to do in college." A member of the Class of 2010
"The retreats helped me a lot spiritually. The lessons of maintaining a strong bond with your peers helped me succeed in college and later on in life because I grew to maintain my relationships and use my connections for success." A member of the Class of 2002
"I actually felt very well prepared for college. I was not an honor roll student at SSA, but when I went to college I felt that I was more than prepared. At times while in class I was able to tell the difference between the education I received at SSA and the type of education that other students received at different institutions. I was a regular student at SSA, but when I was starting college and took the placement exams for courses such as math, English, history and art, I was able to get into higher than the beginning levels of these courses. My freshman year of college I was in an English class with all juniors and seniors. At that moment I realized how great SSA was." A member of the Class of 2000
