Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Is there a dress code?
Yes, we have required uniforms. Think of it this way. It’s better than standing in front of your closet and stressing every morning. All you have to do is get up and go. We care about what you think, not what you wear. Our students have a choice of khakis or skirts with white shirts.
2. How do you get books?
You can purchase your book from an online company we use. Used books are available from this company too and certain books are provided at now cost from the Illinois Textbook Loan Program.
3. How do you apply?
Our major test date, along with all Catholic high schools in Chicagoland is the second Saturday in January, but if you miss this day, please call to set up an alternative time. After you’re admitted, there is a non-refundable registration fee that will be applied to your tuition.
4. How much is your tuition?
Our tuition for the 2009-2010 school year is $9600. Our tuition is significantly lower than other private schools in Chicago. That’s because it has always been a Benedictine tradition to make high-quality education accessible. So, we try to keep our tuition as low as possible.
Financial Aid is available, but funding is limited and you need to apply a soon as possible. The amount awarded depends on your family’s income.
Academic scholarships are also awarded to students who excel in their studies. These scholarships are only given to students who earn the top test scores on the January placement test.
5. Will we see boys?
Yes! Although we believe in single gender education, we do believe in balanced social lives! We invite boys from other schools to attend our socials and formal dances and our girls get invited to theirs. We also invite boys to audition for our school plays. Our students find a number of fun ways to interact with guys.
