St. Scholastica Academy

Book Club

SSA's Book Club was born during the 2010-2011 school year after over a dozen students requested the opportunity to meet and discuss their love of books.

The club meets at least once a month, which gives members time to get a copy of the selected book and read a good portion of it. At our meetings, students talk about what they like and dislike about the book and how the books connect to issues in real life.

Student members are in charge of selecting the books they read, which is what sets the club apart from English class in which books are selected for them.

Book Club is OPEN to all Scholasticans.  Students and faculty are welcome to come to ANY meeting regardless of whether they were original members.

Moderator: Ms. Kate Tynan

Book Club is now in session -- join us for a good read.

The first selection for 2011-2012 Book Club is Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough.

Members will meet to discuss the book on Thursday, November 17. All are welcome to read the book and join in the discussion.

  • The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
  • Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
