St. Scholastica Academy's Mission and Academic Overview

As a Benedictine school rooted in a tradition of community and academic excellence, St. Scholastica Academy educates young women by attending to the development of the whole person through emphasis on critical thinking, moral responsibility and lifelong learning. 

  • 100% of Scholasticans are accepted into college; 98% choose to enroll in college immediately.  Ten percent of our seniors are Illinois State Scholars.
  • Scholasticans on average earn $28,000 in college scholarships.
  • Scholasticans are twice as successful as other students in the State of Illinois in the International Baccalaureate program.
  • Average class size is 14 students.
  • SSA offers most classes at three college-prep levels: pre-IB/honors, college prep I, and college prep II.
  • Curriculum includes the full array of visual arts, three levels of drama, music, and information technology consisting of graphic design, computer science, and web design.
  • SSA has an innovative modified, rotating block schedule responding to new brain research that shows this works best for adolescent girls.
  • 70% of faculty have earned a masters degree or doctoral degree.
  • SSA provides Catholic education that welcomes all faiths.

 St. Scholastica Academy has been recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education and has been accredited by AdvancEd (North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools) since 1928
